Finally reunited at the Summit Oscars 2021

On Friday night we held our annual Summit Oscars where we come together as a company to celebrate our amazing Summiteers and everything they’ve achieved over the last year. But this time, it was also more than that. A lot of our Summiteers hadn’t seen each other in a year and a half, and a lot of our new recruits started their Summit career in lockdown and had only ever met via a screen. As soon as we walked into the venue, that didn’t matter- it was as though we’d never been apart. 

And what a year it’s been… 

Despite a challenging year, our Summiteers have made the best of the situation, turning bedrooms into offices and swapping office attire for tracksuits. And as our snapshot of the year shows, Summit has had a busy, but very successful year. We have: 

• welcomed 7 Summit babies 
• spent £8.1M in Google Ads 
• raised 21k invoices 
• hired 11 new Summiteers 
• had 130k visits to the new summit.co.uk 
• won 5 new clients 
• fixed 96 dev tickets 
• uploaded 96 Instagram posts 
• written 87 blog articles 
• and finally… signed for 1 new office 

And the nominees are… 

Without further ado, let us turn our attention to the main event of the evening, our awards ceremony. After a few weeks of voting, the time had come to find out who the winners were and who would follow in the footsteps of our previous Summiteers. 

Newcomer of the Year 

The first award of the night was for Newcomer of the Year and the nominees were: 

Sarah Poskitt – HR Assistant 

Jak McLoughlin – Digital Marketing Apprentice 

Lee Jackson – Front-End Developer 

And a huge well done to Jak who took that award. 

Client Department Hero 

The second award of the evening was for our Client Department Hero, and this was a new addition to the usual line-up. The nominees were: 

Dora Hallett – Client Manager 

Vicky Barker – Senior Client Manager 

Emma Donaldson – Client Manager 

And it was Dora who won that title- a big congratulations! 

Team of the Year 

Next up was for Team of the Year which is always a closely contested category! The nominees were:

Sales & Marketing (whoop) 

Affiliate Platform 

Signet 

And the winners are… The Range! A huge congratulations to Rachel Williams, Josh Forbes, Steffen Hagavei, Matt Crofts and Emma Donaldson. 

Central Department Hero 

The fourth award was another new one and this time we were voting for our Central Department Hero. The nominees were: 

Ann Smith – Finance Manager 

Emma Adams – Brand Content Manager 

Laura Hunt – HR Manager 

And it was with great pleasure that Ann was announced as the winner- congratulations! 

Trailblazer of the Year 

Our long-standing award for Trailblazer of the Year was next in line and the outstanding nominees were: 

Beth O’Grady – Senior Content Strategist 

Chris Boon – Senior Client Manager 

Josh Forbes – Client Manager 

Abbie Hamilton-Cooke – Client Manager 

This is always one our Summiteers want to win and the winner was… Chris! 

Project of the Year 

Our Summiteers are always working hard on various projects so it is great to be able to celebrate this work with our Project of the Year award, and the nominees were:

Specsavers Northern Europe 

A close battle, but the winner was Specsavers! A huge well done to the team working on that project. 

Product Department Hero 

The seventh award was for our Product Department Hero, our final new addition for 2021. And the nominees were: 

Oliver Cross – Senior Developer 

James Crosby – Head of Technology 

Chris Jordan – Senior Paid Search Strategist 

And the winner of our final department hero award was (drum roll please…) Chris Jordan! 

Leadership Choice Award 

The eighth award of the evening was the leadership choice awards. This award is chosen by the Summit leadership team and is awarded to someone who has gone above and beyond for Summit this year. The winner of this award was: 

James Crosby – Head of Technology 

A huge well done and well deserved! 

Ben Latham Award 

The penultimate award this evening is in honour of our brilliant colleague and friend Ben Latham, who sadly passed away in December 2018. He was an integral part of Summit for 12 years and had a huge impact on everyone who worked beside him. This award celebrates the qualities and behaviours that Ben actively tried to promote within Summit. And the winner of this very special award was: 

Rebecca Wilkes – Senior Client Director 

Well done Rebecca, a really well deserved win.

Summiteer of the Year 

Finally, our last award for the evening is for the honour of Summiteer of the Year. And the nominees were: 

James Crosby – Head of Technology 

Vicky Barker – Senior Client Manager 

Emily Redfearn – Head of CI 

A highly contested category… and the winner was Emily! A big congratulations for all of your hard work!
