In partnership with Summit, Peugeot this week launched a brand new eCommerce capability, Order Online, which is set to revolutionise the car purchase process. The online platform puts the customer at the heart of the sale, offering the opportunity for Peugeot buyers to take care of the full buying process online, including applying for finance and trading in a part-exchange vehicle.

As reported by the BBC, ‘for the first time it is perfectly possible for a motorist to buy a new car without going anywhere near a dealer, and never meeting a car salesman.’

Selling cars online is much more than building a website, and involves digital transformation across the entire organisation. Peugeot chose online retailing specialists Summit because of the experience and expertise we could bring to the process of developing a new eCommerce channel within the automotive sector. We worked with Peugeot to blueprint an end-to-end customer journey, providing a whole new sales channel.

‘Peugeot’s online system distinguishes itself from some other car makers by offering buyers the option to specify a car as they wish, rather than restricting buyers to purchase dealer stock vehicles only.’, according to Autocar. Motortrader note that another key feature of the service is ‘the customer’s ability to get a trade-in value and build it into their transaction’.

This project has led to a company-wide digital transformation, creating an industry game-changing solution. The Order Online service ‘represents the first-time that every step in the car-buying process can be completed online’, according to The Express.
