Summit began its hunt for fresh new graduates at the National Graduate Exhibition at London Olympia on Friday 13th October. The aim of the event was to showcase what Summit can offer young entrepreneurs looking to soak up knowledge about their possible career paths, and also meet potential Summiteer’s on the hunt for roles in digital.
In advance of the event, our Marketing and HR teams joined forces to deliver the full Summit experience for attendee’s. Our Summit stand space was designed to showcase our Summit values, manifesto and beliefs, and with the help of our interactive ecommerce game, we also created a fun and relaxed atmosphere for us to connect with graduates.
The game proved to be a huge success, and enabled us to interact with graduates by allowing them to immerse themselves in the world of an Ecommerce Director, with their answers either increasing or decreasing their brand’s revenue. By taking part in our interactive game, attendees were automatically entered into our competition poll, which gave them a chance to win either an Amazon Echo, a £250 Argos voucher or an Oculus Rift. Our Summit online retail based quiz also gave attendee’s a chance to win one of our amazing prizes by answering our chosen question “How much revenue do you think is created globally by e-commerce every minute?”
The afternoon showcased Summit’s CEO and motivational speaker, Hedley Aylott, as he presented the Summit story, and how he went from “Gangster rap to Millionaire”. In his presentation, Hedley revealed the journey of his unusual path that led him to create what Summit is today, and he also shared his top tips for being successful. If you would like to experience Hedley’s story, you can view the full presentation on our Facebook page.
On the final day of the exhibition, the crowds gathered as we announced the winners of our competition. Denzel Awuku, from Coventry University was the winner of the £250 Argos voucher, whilst Nicole Wayment, from University of York won the Amazon Echo, and finally Tomas Pilvelis, from City University in London was the winner of the Oculus Rift! The other lucky competition entrants have also been given the prize of a fast track in the interview process towards a full-time position with Summit.
Here is what Summit’s HR Manager Helen Norris thought about the event:
“We were highly impressed by the number of keen graduates and the breadth of interest in Summit and our Graduate opportunities. As Changemakers, we are challenged every day to think differently. Attending the event was part of our new resourcing strategy to make early contact with talented graduates. We will be following up with all interested candidates as early as next week – sharing more information with them about Summit and our career opportunities. Next on the horizon, we are looking forward to attending the National Graduate Exhibition at Birmingham NEC on the 3rd & 4th November”.
After seeing hundreds of motivated, enthusiastic graduates, we were really impressed with their potential and range of skills. if you didn’t manage to join us at the event, but would like to join the Summit family, please get in touch via [email protected]. We would also like to thank the event organizers for such a warm welcome at the event!
