Senior Programmatic Specialist

A great opportunity has arisen within our Paid Media team for a Senior Programmatic Specialist. This is an exciting new role in which you will be overseeing best practice and helping to develop Summit’s Programmatic Video, Display and Paid Social buying proposition.

Operating at a senior level you will be confident in various programmatic strategies, focussed on implementing practical, timely solutions whilst also evolving our offering in a rapidly changing environment. You will need a deep understanding of what motivates a consumer to engage and purchase from a retailer and enjoy building strong relationships with internal and external customers; using a proactive, driven and strategic approach to deliver – with an eye for operational considerations.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Product development:
    • Continuously evolving the programmatic display and video channel to ensure Summit’s Trading Desk have a market leading proposition
    • Critically evaluating platforms, establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with 3rd party vendors
    • Working with Ad Servers to deliver dynamic creative solutions, provide effective trafficking and actionable reporting for clients and delivery teams
    • Driving the future of our Forecaster technology roadmap through identifying new opportunities to utilise automation to improve campaign performance and delivery efficiencies
    • Ensuring new technologies and products are successfully adopted across the client base and Summit teams
    • Keeping up to date of industry trends and best practices, identifying and managing innovation opportunities.
  • Operational delivery support:
    • Training, upskilling and knowledge share across the relevant internal and external stakeholders
    • Working with delivery teams to ensure we deliver to clients’ performance objectives and to Summit’s Best Practice standard
    • Managing delivery of programmatic campaigns, proactively recommending and implementing performance optimisations
    • Working with relevant teams to build robust reporting to track and effectively showcase performance and provide in-depth analysis of results and actionable recommendations for performance improvement
  • Client development support:
    • Developing new strategies and proposals for new business and existing clients
    • Supporting the delivery team with troubleshooting as and when required

Desired Skills and Experience

  •  4 years+ experience within an active programmatic buying role (agency or trading desk), with a proven history of client delivery and development
  • In-depth knowledge of the channel, with a proven track record in programmatic buying, DSP partners and audience targeting
  • Experience in vendor selection and new DSP/ DMP on-boarding
  • Experience of Mobile app adverting across acquisition, activation and retention
  • Experience in RTB, Programmatic Guaranteed, as well as Direct buys and Direct Deal negotiation
  • Excellent knowledge of technical aspects of Programmatic Buying and Ad Serving
  • Experience in working with an Ad Server, ad ops and trafficking
  • Practical experience of; at least two established DSP providers, dynamic creative builds, branding and performance campaigns
  • Strong analytical thinking and mathematical skills
  • Excellent project management skills, ability to prioritise own and junior team member workload and work efficiently in a demanding client environment
  • Ability to develop and learn new processes
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills as well as ability to work independently
  • Experience in training and delegating work to junior team members
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Deep understanding of successful paid media strategies, performance optimisation tactics and analysing performance data

Preferred, but not essential skills

  • Knowledge of other paid media channels such as PPC, Shopping and Paid Social
  • Experience of working on the Sell-Side
  • Retail experience
